Searching for a research agenda for the Library and Information Science community
Anne Goulding
Department of Information Science Loughborough University, Loughborough, Leicestershire, a.goulding{at}lboro.ac.uk
Discusses a workshop focusing on research in the UK LIS (Library and Information Science) sector held at the British Library in November 2006. Outlines the presentations given at the workshop on the history of research in the sector, current developments and the role of practice-led research. Expresses concern about the fragmentation of funding for research into LIS, particularly that for applied, practice-based research. Suggests that leadership is needed to establish a research agenda for the sector and drive it forward.
